Top tips for choosing a wedding supplier:
When to book a supplier:
Do not leave booking a supplier till the last minute – At the start of any year as a supplier we are normally 70% booked up for that year and the remaining 30% gets booked in the first four months of the year. When looking to book a supplier give it a minimum 6-9 months from your wedding date so you are not disappointed.
Recommended suppliers from your wedding venue:
Cheshire Celebrations is a recommended supplier for a number of services at various high-end venues within an hours radius of our location such as Peckforton Castle and Nunsmere Hall near Chester, Colshaw Hall, Merrydale Manor and The Oak Tree of Peover near Knutsford, Shrigley Hall and Sandhole Oak Barn near Macclesfield to name just a few and we have built up an excellent rapport with these venues over the last 6 years and in return, they recommend our services to new clients of theirs as they trust us to deliver the best services on the day.
All wedding venues will have a list of wedding suppliers they recommend to clients. Most suppliers recommended will have experience of the venue, previously provided excellent services to clients on a regular basis and can mainly be based locally to the venue.
Too good to be true?
Sadly, like any industry, there is always a small handful of businesses who may be out to scam you and with the power of social media, the threat is larger than ever.
Social Media platforms like Facebook and Instagram are used as marketing tools for all suppliers in our industry as it keeps you up to date with the latest trends, offers and news with their services. But unfortunately, there are some groups you find on social media which advertise content which is not there own and can real you in with low prices for an all singing and all dancing package or service which could be completely fabricated.
If a supplier seems too good to be true how do you go about doing your research?
- Check their timeline on social media, how long have they been established?
- Reviews – Have you looked at the supplier’s reviews if they have not got any reviews or review section, why?
- Website? Is there a backlink that will take you to a website?
- Speak to your venue? Have they worked at the venue before? If so what were they like as a company?
- Are they a registered business? You can find this out on Companies House?
- Does the supplier have T&C’s on their website, or can they be viewed?
- Can they provide proof of their public liability/insurance?
Wedding Fayres and Open Days:
Most wedding venues put on wedding fayres and open days once or twice a year which gives the Bride and Groom a great chance to come and meet the suppliers showcasing their services.
At Cheshire Celebrations, we showcase our services at different venues around the Cheshire area more than a dozen times a year. We love the opportunity to talk to all the newlyweds and answer any questions they may have about our services and the same goes for any supplier at these events.
It really is a great way for you to meet suppliers face to face and gives you the confidence to make the right decision to booking that supplier.
Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life so choosing the right supplier for your wedding day is a big decision and I hope these tips help you in make the right choice.
